At Saucermen Studios, we design all our terrain with hobbyists and practical printing in mind. I often get asked what print settings I use personally when printing our STL files on our studio printers. Mostly, we use the Bambu Lab P1S, so I thought I’d share my simple and reliable approach using Bambu Studio.
These settings work well for most of our terrain pieces and should be an easy starting point if you’re printing them yourself.
My Default Profile
For almost everything terrain-related, I stick to the following:
- PROFILE PRESET:
0.2mm Standard @BBL - CHANGE INFILL: 5% (gyroid pattern)
- OPTIONAL BRIM: Outer Only Brim (when needed)

Why These Settings?
0.2mm Standard Layer Height for terrain
The 0.2mm setting offers a good balance of detail and speed. Terrain doesn’t usually need ultra-fine layers like miniatures do, and this setting gives great results with sharp edges and clean surfaces.
If you want finer detail, use variable layer height.
5% Infill
For larger structures like walls, scatter terrain, and buildings, 5% is more than enough to maintain strength while saving filament and print time. Most terrain doesn’t need to be solid—especially if it’s not load-bearing.
For structures with large flat tops (such as rooftops) may need infill up to 10% for better results.

Outer Only Brim
I add an outer only brim for prints that are:
- Tall and thin
- Have a small footprint on the bed
This helps avoid failed prints due to poor bed adhesion, especially for pieces like antennas, gantries, or thin walls. It’s a small change that can save a lot of headaches.
Final Tips
- I print with PLA+ most of the time.
- Supports are turned off as all Saucermen Studios 3D printable terrain prints without supports
- First layer adhesion is key—so make sure your bed is level and clean (spray with isopropyl alcohol).
Want to Try These Settings?
If you’re printing terrain from our store, feel free to use the settings above as a starting point. Every printer is different, so tweak as needed – But this has worked reliably on my P1S for hundreds of prints.
Happy printing,
Alex @ Saucermen Studios
